Born in Limerick Rachel Murphy Mannix now works from her studio in County Clare. Since graduating in 1990 she has worked in the art world as curator and educator. She is known for her wild and energetic paintings of the windswept, rugged landscape of the west coast of Ireland. Mannix has shown in many solo and group exhibitions on both sides of the Atlantic.
